I wanted to wait until after April Fool’s Day to introduce the new brand logo! I thought it would be fun to share the evolution of this logo in pictures. Also, I didn’t want you to think I was joking! I hope you like the new logo as much as I do. Having worked in advertising and printing for a lifetime, I struggled to find a logo that fits my brand. It became a personal mission or rather an obsession to create what suited the brand the best. Perhaps, I was too close to “me” to incorporate my own stamp? I wanted to stray away from the conventional, but it was also an emotional decision. It is a representation of everything that I love! I’ll admit the first logo that I picked when I first started was in haste, I wanted conventional, trendy and black as it was an easy logo to reproduce. That basic approach left me feeling frustrated because I felt like it didn’t tell the story of acrylic painting correctly. Once the website had a major overhaul with the help of a designer, it still felt like something was missing. I absolutely love painting and teaching, but something wasn’t quite right with the website. My loving husband, not a designer by trade, but a genius when it comes to anything technical- tackled the website quest and put up with my requests to change the whole site and then change it back and changed it fifteen more times before I realized it was the logo! He did some incredible work, and he put up with me during the process! I’ll admit, he did mention initially that my first color choice of “black” wasn’t a good look. I wouldn’t listen! I thought it was cool on the website. So, after some soul searching in the depths of black- I found color! I also admitted that I was wrong- but in that tiny voice in my head- not out loud so he could hear! So, I chose to go with the most expensive full color print option to reproduce all merchandise! I know better!! I know this with my years of print experience but what the heck! You only live once! Here are just a few reasons why the logo in the header won my heart. The green trees represent growth through art. I think the more we paint, explore, practice and train our brains to be artists- we all grow! Shades of cyan for self-expression and a sense of renewal (it’s a way to make it our own- no two painters are alike, and your artwork should be your space to imagine and create what is you and sometimes that creates a renewal of sorts because we learn to be gentle and patient with ourselves! This is certainly a rebirth of a logo! The natural wood look represents an organic, comfortable and relaxing environment. I’m a country girl by heart and I’m at peace in nature. My art is inspired by nature, and it reminds me of home, so the wood look is in! My studio is in a log cabin and “Woods” is in the name. Splashes of color signify the overall FUN of acrylic painting! Plus, what a great way to incorporate FULL color! So for those of you that just see a logo, I hope that now you understand the meaning for me is much more than a brand it represents my love of painting! Also, color evokes a certain emotion and those that have experience in branding will understand that I’m not crazy, yet! I hope you enjoy the process of the logo evolution and if you like a different logo….well I’m sure it’s not too late for hubby to change the website again. I’m totally kidding!
