After a whirl wind of learnings last month, I invite you to discover new art bursting with creativity and charm. These are now available to select from the paint and sip collection at The Gallery in the Woods or at my Shop for sale! Each piece tells a unique story, inviting you into a world of imagination and inspiration from my recent art retreat.
I participated in class twice a day with one of the arts greats, Michelle Iglesias. She challenged us to paint using only one brush! This was completely outside my comfort zone! In addition, I gleaned a creative technique, utilizing a pallet knife to craft a rooster and I’m proud of this silly rooster, for never having tried anything like this before. It was one of my favorite classes! We incorporated a craft project with shells and acrylic circles, where we painted a beach scene, and I learned more about perspective and houses that helped me immensely. I still need to practice more. We mixed paint, and right when I was prepared to ask her a question on shading, I figured it out on my own. I think just being in a room with your art hero makes you a better student! I also learned the dot or dash/swipe technique that Master Monet and some of the greatest artists of our time utilized. It was harder than it looked, even with acrylic but I look forward to incorporating that technique more often. I’m excited to share that I will have a design license for a few exclusive Pateron paintings from Michelle that I’ll be teaching you and I absolutely can’t wait!
When I wasn’t exploring the area or in class, I was inspired by the vibrant colors of the area and the warm sun that is hopefully coming our way soon. Some new pieces of art were crafted from my emotional journey while visiting the Key West Butterfly Conservatory. I highly recommend it as a beautiful and magical place.
A blue butterfly landed on my back, while I walked the entire exhibit, and it wasn’t until I stood with my back to the sun that it opened its wings and flew away. What an honor to have had one land on me since they only live a short while. Butterflies have a special place in my heart due to my previous health struggle and I decided then and there that I plan to incorporate more butterflies into future artwork if not for class but for me! More importantly, I learned that we all need to step outside our comfort zone to grow as individual artists and it’s these new experiences and surroundings that allow us to be more creative. It’s important to discover new places and create new adventures for ourselves. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned artist, my events are designed to welcome everyone into a warm, community-oriented atmosphere that celebrates creativity and connection for the love of paint. Don’t miss out on this chance to experience art like never before! Visit my list of new artwork!
